The European Aviation Safety Agency EASA is in the process of developing its system of aviation regulations. This will also bring changes to Finnish pilot licences – but only after a transitional period.
The first four parts of the new provisions concerning pilots and cabin crew (Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1178/2011) were published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 25 November 2011. These provisions are complementary to the Basic Regulation 216/2008 defining EASA’s competence.
The Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi) and the Swedish Transport Agency have jointly compiled guidelines on the application of the Finnish-Swedish Ice Class Rules (TRAFI/31298/03.04.01.00). The Guidelines contain:
The electronic service is available from Monday 14 November. The data concerning flight operations in year 2011 must be reported to the Finnish Transport Safety Agency by 27 January 2012. The duty to report applies to flight operations carried out with aircraft in Finnish registry.
On 30 August 2011 the Transport Ministers of Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Norway gave a strong statement of their willingness and commitment to continue the process leading to the establishment of the North European Functional Airspace Block (NEFAB).
